An update from Pamela Meyer, Executive Director

Greetings,

Let me start by saying that it is our sincere hope that you are well, healthy and safe.

I am reaching out to let you know what is happening at Quarry Hill Nature Center and to remind you that nature is something we can all share right now.

We are grateful for our friends and community whose support over the years is helping to provide our organization stability right now. The nature center remains closed. We’ve cancelled many field trips, special events, birthday parties and programs. But we are still committed to keeping Quarry Hill a part of your lives education and meaningful engagements with nature.

Quarry Hill teachers and naturalists are developing ways to deliver our signature programs to Rochester Public School partners to support science education and maintain a connection with the Nature Center for students who will be unable to visit for their classes this spring.

Quarry Hill staff are planning ways to reach many of you who were registered for programming this spring or who enjoy our Sunday programs. We plan to go forward later this spring with our annual native plant sale in a modified format.

Our animals are being well cared for. You’ll see some short video and photos on our social media if you’d like to check in.

The park and trails are open. Quarry Hill is a busy destination in our community. We ask you to be particularly cautious about social distance guidelines by spreading out in the parking lot, using alternate entrances to the park and maintaining distance as you pass by others on the trails.

Things look different right now, but Quarry Hill staff are still here as your nature resource. Send us your questions, observations, or suggestions via Facebook messenger, email or voicemail. Tag us on social media to share with us what you are doing to get outdoors. If you are a parent or teacher with a nature question – reach out and we’ll do our best to provide support.

We’ll keep you up to date through social media and email in the coming weeks. Until then, know that we remain committed to helping our community connect through the beauty of the natural world.

We miss you all, we wish you well and we look forward to connecting with you soon.

Regards,
Pam
