Zumbro Valley Audubon Society

A Minnesota Chapter of the National Audubon Society Serving Olmsted and surrounding counties in Southeastern Minnesota based out of Rochester, MN.
Zumbro Valley Audubon Society (ZVAS) monthly programs are hosted at Quarry Hill Nature Center. Programs are free and open to the public.

The Raptor Center

The Raptor Center specializes in the medical care, rehabilitation, and conservation of eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons, treating more than 700 raptors each year. The Raptor Center trains veterinary students and veterinarians from around the world to become future leaders in raptor medicine and conservation.

Quarry Hill staff and volunteers assist with transporting injured raptors to The Raptor Center.

Tours of The Raptor Center on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota are conducted most weekends. Fees apply.

Minnesota DNR

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) works with citizens to conserve and manage the state's natural resources, to provide outdoor recreation opportunities, and to provide for commercial uses of natural resources in a way that creates a sustainable quality of life.
DNR representatives partner with Quarry Hill Nature Center to stock the fishing pond, monitor the health of our fish population, consult on best practices for eradicating invasive plant species, and consult on wildlife management and research practices.

Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota provides quality medical care and rehabilitation for all injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife, and shares its knowledge with the people who care about them. With a medical staff of 8, the Center is one of the largest and busiest wildlife medical centers in the nation. More than 400 volunteers care for, rehabilitate and release the wildlife that they've worked with. The WRC treats more than 8,500 wild animals every year, representing more than 160 different species.

Quarry Hill Nature Center is not a licensed rehabilitation facility therefore cannot accept injured or orphaned animals. 

Olmsted County Waste to Energy Facility

The Olmsted Waste-to-Energy Facility (OWEF) is one component of Olmsted County’s integrated approach to solid waste management. The OWEF produces steam and electricity which is provided to 37 buildings in the Olmsted County District Energy System (OCDES) and reduces the volume of waste that goes to a landfill by about 90%.

Quarry Hill Nature Center Naturalists conduct tours of the facility on behalf of the county. Visits to the Olmsted County Recycling Center, Hazardous Waste Facility and compost site can be included for tours scheduled during normal business hours. Call 507-328-7070 to schedule a tour. 

Minnesota Master Naturalist Program

The Minnesota Master Naturalist Program is a volunteer program that teaches adults about Minnesota`s natural resources, empowers them to educate others, and provides opportunities to do conservation projects. Minnesota is one of more than forty states working to train adult volunteers through a statewide Master Naturalist Program. Quarry Hill is a sponsoring organization of Minnesota’s Master Naturalist Program and periodically teaches certification courses for adults. Becoming a Master Naturalist is easy! Learn how here.
